Rapidly Growing E-Commerce Company Commits to Ohio

Hayneedle began its journey in 2002 as hammocks.com with a niche focus. Today, hayneedle.com is a home furnishings and décor online retailer that includes the world’s largest selection of outdoor living options.

After an acquisition by Jet.com, a next-generation e-commerce marketplace, Hayneedle’s growth skyrocketed. With a fulfillment center already in Monroe, Ohio, Hayneedle looked again to the city to build another one. This new facility is its second fulfillment center in Ohio, third one nationally. The 994,000-square-foot fulfillment center is located five miles from Hayneedle’s existing 721,000-square-foot facility. With this location, Hayneedle nationally has over 2 million square feet dedicated to distribution.

A central location and a trained, reliable workforce were drivers for Hayneedle’s Ohio expansion. Its two fulfillment centers in Monroe are strategically placed to best serve its customers within a one- to two-day period. Since the opening of Hayneedle’s first facility in 2010, Ohio’s large and diverse talent pool has been an integral part of the company’s Ohio investment. Hayneedle will continue to expand its workforce opportunities in the new fulfilment center with 104 jobs. The company aims to employ additional associates specializing in warehousing and equipment operations to both Ohio facilities by its winter peak.

“While we looked at other regional options, growing with the city of Monroe will allow us to continue to tap into the region’s strong talent pool, be good corporate partners to the community and provide first-class service to our customers, which is our ultimate goal,” said Dave Woods, senior director of fulfillment for Hayneedle.

Hayneedle delivers millions of products from over 3,000 brands from its state-of-the-art fulfillment centers in Ohio and California. The company’s wide product selection and top-of-the-line customer care fueled its rapid growth, catching the eye of Jet.com. Jet acquired Hayneedle in 2016. Under the umbrella of Jet.com, Hayneedle’s business achieved growth resulting in a need to expand its fulfillment network.
