16 Small Businesses in SW Ohio Benefit from JobsOhio Grant

Sixteen companies in Southwest Ohio received a JobsOhio Small Business Grant in 2020, which supported the creation of 90 jobs and the retention of 317 existing jobs. Statewide, the Small Business Grant awarded over $4 million in grant funding during its first phase.

The Small Business Grant exists to provide financial support for eligible projects in designated distressed communities and/or for businesses owned by underrepresented populations across the state. The COVID-19 pandemic magnified the challenges small businesses face with accessing the capital needed for growth.

12. Orchestrate LLC
13. Journey Steel, Inc.
14. Micropyretics Heaters International Inc.
15. Trio Trucking, Inc.
16. Management Performance International, Inc.

Making a Difference for Businesses

The JobsOhio Small Business Grant support is intended for small to medium-sized companies with eligible projects. Eligible recipients include companies within JobsOhio’s 10 targeted industries and business functions.

“It allowed us to plan for investment into technology as a small business competing with larger outfits,” said Laurence Jones, president and co-founder of RiskVersity, LLC. “Technology is a way to level the playing field. That grant will help us with software to be competitive in the marketplace.”

Grant decisions for the program are based on several project factors, including but not limited to, company location, company ownership, jobs created and/or retained, and project-fixed asset investment.
