Salt Creek Industrial Park Builds Speculative Building To Drive Business Growth
Jackson County is set to benefit from a $3.6 million investment in the Salt Creek Industrial Park, which will provide much-needed industrial and office space to the region. Jackson-Grandview Builders, Inc., the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership, Ohio Department of Development, JobsOhio and Ohio Southeast Economic Development hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the speculative (spec) building project on September 11, 2024. The development is supported by a $360,000 JobsOhio grant through the Ohio Site Inventory Program (OSIP).
The 30,000-square-foot building, expandable up to 60,000 square feet, will feature 2,000 square feet of modern office space on 5.86 acres, with an additional 38 acres available for future development. With convenient access to both rail and highway infrastructure, the building is expected to attract businesses seeking to expand operations in Southern Ohio.
“The new speculative property at Salt Creek Industrial Park will close a gap for much-needed industrial and office space in Jackson County,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “This project’s strategic location and expansion potential will bring more jobs and opportunities to the area.”
This investment is a collaborative effort involving multiple partners, including OhioSE, the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership, JobsOhio, and the Ohio Department of Development, and local officials.
OhioSE Interim President Katy Farber emphasized the importance of having ready-to-use facilities: “When companies look for a new location, they often prefer existing buildings over new construction. This project directly addresses Jackson County’s need to expand its inventory of available spaces.”
The spec building project is also supported by a $2.9 million loan from the Rural Industrial Park Loan (RIPL) Program from the Ohio Department of Development. This initiative aims to promote economic development in underserved areas by offering low-interest loans for industrial park developments.
“The investments we’re making through the RIPL program positively impact businesses and communities across Ohio,” said Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik. “This project exemplifies how strong infrastructure and available space can drive economic growth.”
Jackson County is the third-largest job creator in the 25-county OhioSE region. The Salt Creek Industrial Park development is expected to further bolster the area’s economic momentum.
