Aer Lingus Adding More Ohio Flights at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport
(Cleveland, Ohio)—Aer Lingus is adding additional nonstop flights from Cleveland to Dublin, Ireland. The transatlantic flight from Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport (CLE) will increase from four to five roundtrips per week on April 17. Service jumps to six trips per week during the high-travel summer season and will run from May 6 through October 25.
“There has been huge demand for travel since we opened our direct connection from Cleveland to Dublin last year and we are delighted to be able to respond by offering more services from April 2025,” said Aer Lingus Chief Strategy and Planning Officer Reid Moody. “As well as a direct connection to Ireland, the people of Cleveland and wider state of Ohio can access easy onward connections to popular destinations in the UK and Europe through our Dublin gateway hub. Enabling more transatlantic travel is a key priority for Aer Lingus, and we look forward to welcoming Ohioans on board our new services next year.”
Aer Lingus offers the only direct European service from Cleveland. The in-demand route was launched in May 2023 as part of the JobsOhio Air Service restoration program, which provides Ohio’s commercial airports with the opportunity to collaborate through public and private partnerships to restore and grow air service opportunities for economic development.
“Ohio travelers have responded favorably over the past year and a half to the nonstop Aer Lingus route from Cleveland to Ireland,” said JobsOhio President & CEO J.P. Nauseef. “Aer Lingus’ decision to expand the nonstop flights to Dublin is a result of strong collaboration with state and local partners, allowing more Ohioans to travel to Europe while enhancing accessibility to the rest of the world.”
JobsOhio, along with partners Team NEO, Greater Cleveland Partnership, Destination Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and the City of Cleveland, have collaborated to ensure the success of the Aer Lingus flight. The direct flight connects more Ohioans to Europe for business and leisure travel and makes Ohio more accessible to European travelers. In addition to increasing flight frequency, Aer Lingus will begin year-round service in 2026.
“Team NEO is excited by the continued success of the Aer Lingus flight connecting Cleveland to Dublin, which serves not only as a direct link to Ireland but as a gateway to Europe,” said Team NEO CEO Bill Koehler. “This partnership enhances global connectivity, creating new opportunities for business investment and economic growth while positioning Northeast Ohio as a competitive player in the global economy.”
In its first 18 months, Aer Lingus’ service has provided an estimated $28 million in economic impact to the Cleveland market - Dublin Airport (DUB) is one of only two airports, including Shannon, in Europe operating a U.S. Customs preclearance checkpoint. This will open opportunities for county residents to travel conveniently to dozens of international destinations.
"We are pleased with the ongoing success of the Aer Lingus flight connecting Cleveland to Dublin. This service has expanded travel options, strengthened our ties with Ireland, and opened doors for cultural exchange and economic growth, said City of Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb. “The positive response from travelers highlights the demand for international connectivity, and we are grateful for Aer Lingus's commitment to Cleveland."
“Cuyahoga County is thrilled to see Aer Lingus service from Cleveland to Dublin, Ireland, extended through 2027,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. “This continued partnership strengthens global relationships, boosts tourism, and creates new business opportunities, benefiting residents and businesses across Northeast Ohio.”
