Utica Shale attracts $64 billion in investment, leads the nation in natural gas development
The Utica Shale, located in Ohio, and the neighboring Marcellus Shale account for 85 percent of the growth in U.S. shale production since 2012. The industry-leading innovations taking place in the Utica have made drilling more efficient and enhanced productivity. An increasing number of pipelines coming online are leading to greater national and international impacts on the natural gas and specialty chemicals industries. A growing supply chain of natural gas liquids now links Ohio to the energy and plastics industries of Europe. In addition, the plentiful supply of natural gas is fueling expansions in new power plant construction.
