Don’t Underestimate Talent Strategy
Finding the perfect site for a company looking to take advantage of Ohio’s rich business climate is just part of the economic development story in the Buckeye State. Another primary requirement for success is finding the right people to fill critical roles. Businesses need help in high-demand industries to access Ohio's broad, skilled talent pool.
That’s where JobsOhio shines.
Our innovative Talent team is with you every step of the way to find, hire, and train a top-notch workforce. The team works to identify specific talent challenges and build sustainable talent strategies that benefit both employer and employee. The strategy could include Talent Acquisition Services (TAS) as a built-in part of a company’s overall incentive package.
Neither a grant nor a loan, the TAS incentive is a unique partnership between JobsOhio and companies in our 10 focus industries expanding within or new to Ohio. The goal is to build and execute a flexible and customizable talent strategy alongside the company’s existing team, helping them solve their biggest talent challenges. From employer brand-building and attraction to screening and training, the TAS program provides a customized approach based on the company’s needs.
JobsOhio’s differentiators help companies meet specific goals and benchmarks. They include a customized, all-inclusive talent plan for each company’s unique talent needs. Our talent experts engage businesses early to accurately identify their needs and develop solutions to their challenges. We’ve been working with these companies for nearly two years since they choose Ohio to ensure sustainable long-term success.
To do this, the Talent team of experts leans on vast private-sector experience in talent acquisition, from recruitment to marketing and the workforce ecosystem. We leverage public and private partners to deliver services swiftly. We assess each company and examine the environment specific to their industry for a 360-degree approach to talent solutions to help them to attract, retain and reskill workers.
Beyond our team of experts and talent advising, the TAS incentive takes a multi-prong approach to address attraction, engagement, selection, and talent development for companies across our target industries.
General Dynamics hoped to increase its application pipeline and critical welding certification rates and fully train pre-selected candidates. JobsOhio pulled together a network of workforce development partners to achieve these goals, resulting in a higher volume of applicants, and an increase in certification rates from 17% to 95%, creating a larger pool of skilled talent from which to choose. The partners brought together through the TAS incentive remain partners with General Dynamics, part of the sustainability of TAS is connecting local resources and partners to ensure long-term success.
To further set JobsOhio’s talent team and incentive apart, our status as a private, non-profit economic development organization that works closely with the State of Ohio helps us leverage relationships with public and private partners to create a network of talent resources.
But JobsOhio doesn’t stop at talent advising and planning. We also offer additional incentive assistance through our Workforce Grant for eligible companies in JobsOhio’s targeted industries and business functions focused on reskilling their workforce.
It all adds up to a customized plan that ensures every company we do business with is successful in Ohio, including a long-term solution for talent challenges.
